B4P CODEFOUND 2023 Annual Narrative Summary

The 2023 reporting year marked a transformative period for the Bong County Women and Youth Development Cooperative (B4P CODEFOUND). The organization deepened its commitment to empowering Liberian women and youth through leadership training, advocacy, and community development initiatives.

Key Highlights

The first-ever National Women & Youth Conference was held from May 31 to June 2, 2023, in Gbarnga, Bong County, under the theme “Strengthening Women and Youth Positions for Collective Action in Fostering Peace and Development Across Liberia.” The event brought together 424 participants from six counties, with representation from all 13 administrative districts of Bong County.

The conference was launched by Her Excellency Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor, former Vice President of Liberia, and attended by government officials, human rights defenders, and business leaders. Discussions focused on women’s rights, leadership, technology, and youth entrepreneurship. Women leaders committed to collective action in addressing gender-based issues and promoting peace.

Organizational Achievements

• Established a governance and steering committee structure.
• Opened a bank account and formalized operational systems.
• Expanded membership to 1,750 women across 35 community groups.
• Conducted a comprehensive Livelihood Assessment for women and youth in Bong County.
• Hosted the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) commemoration event in March 2024.
• Three women appointed to key county-level leadership positions.

Challenges & Lessons Learned

The organization faced limited funding for day-to-day operations and logistical challenges reaching all districts. However, 2023 reinforced the importance of empowering women as agents of change — proving that leadership inclusion and collaboration are essential to sustainable development.

Future Outlook

In the coming years, B4P CODEFOUND aims to strengthen its policy framework, enhance local resource mobilization, promote women-led agriculture and enterprise programs, and build strong partnerships with national and international stakeholders. The organization remains dedicated to creating inclusive platforms for women and youth to thrive in leadership, business, and peacebuilding.

Liberian Conference ’25 – Empowering Women and Youth for a Sustainable Future

The Liberian Conference ’25, organized by B4P CODEFOUND and partners, is scheduled from December 11–13, 2025 in Gbarnga City, Bong County. The event aims to foster inclusive development by empowering women and youth through targeted investments in agriculture, health, and education.
